Social Work Educational Enhancement Project
Practicum Education Program
The Practicum Education Program at the Facundo Valdez School of Social Work integrates hands-on fieldwork with academic learning. Partnering with over 300 agencies, the program offers tailored placements that allow MSW students to apply their classroom knowledge in diverse, real-world settings. This experience prepares students for effective social work practice, particularly within communities across New Mexico.

Practicum Education is the signature pedagogy of social work education. In field practicum, students apply theory to practice in real-world settings. Through field-based learning and mentorship, students learn important social work skills and begin to develop professional identities as social workers.
The FVSSW maintains partnerships with a wide network of agencies and organizations in communities all over New Mexico and beyond. We value our agency partners and on-site field educators and welcome new applications from prospective field sites. Our agency instructors help us to uphold rigorous professional standards and train new social workers for skilled service provision in a wide range of practice areas. Reasons to host students include workforce development, service to the profession, and connection with the FVSSW community network.
